Q Kurt Strack is puzzled by this American magazine illustration of the late 1940s. Judging by the edge of the wing, the aircraft should be facing right. The only vague possibility we can suggest is a USAAF-operated Beaufighter - unless you know differently?
A Ian Wyllie and other readers identified the American aircraft in our December issue as a Grumman F7F-3P Tigercat by a number of clues. He says the item above the cap of the righthand figure is the nosegear leg and door, while at extreme right is the front of the port undercarriage door.
